Solo Salon
Solo ranks eleventh because twenty years in the West Loop — a neighborhood that has remade itself completely in that time — requires both adaptability and consistency, and the salon has managed both.
Solo Salon holds multiple West Loop doors, with the Elizabeth Street location as the primary address and a Washington Boulevard outpost expanding the footprint. Barber services sit alongside full color and cut work, which mirrors the neighborhood’s shift from post-industrial to firmly residential and professional. Walk-ins are welcome daily, a stance that still carries operational risk for a salon of this size.
The twenty-year tenure produces a client base that spans original West Loop residents through the wave of new arrivals who came with the restaurant and residential boom. Haircuts, color, extensions, and keratin treatments are the core menu; the spa services — waxing, makeup — give it range for event and bridal work. An honest, accessible option for a neighborhood that needed more of those.
